The much anticipated report is in. Not inflation. Not the job report. The annual Adobe Emoji Report. And I could not be more excited. If you saw me right now I am grinning with star eyes. Here are some of the key stats from the report.
- 91% of users agree that an emoji makes it easier for them to express themselves as well as lighten the mode in a conversation.
- The top 5 emoji’s used? Crying laughing, the thumbs up, the hear, rolling laughing (a head tilt) and crying.
- 60% of emoji users agree that using emojis in their communication has improved their mental health.
- ½ users will respond to a message if it has an emoji. Sales story.
- 67% of Gen Z want more emojis. Gen Z always wanting more.
However, there were some negative statistics about the report.
- 2 in 5 users still feel unrepresented and identities are not reflected in emojis
- ¾ agree that with these inclusive emojis, it can help raise awareness for diverse groups of people
- If you think it is viewed as unprofessional at work. Think again. 68% like when people use at work. Although I’d be careful in the right scenario. “Hey, I’m late” (shrug emoji, face palm emoji, thumbs up)
And lastly the most misunderstood emojis are the cowboy (when will you ever use the cowboy and how is this misunderstood) and the upside-down happy face which is supposed to mean sarcasm or humour.
You’re welcome. I have given you more information on emojis then you will ever need. Enjoy the upcoming episode of Grad2great or in Emoji language “Student Emoji with Graduation Cap” number 2 “Thumbs up”
